Alqumit Alhamad (b. 1992) is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in personally lived experiences of war, migration, queerness, and a constant movement between places. Working through drawing, painting, textiles, and installation, he explores themes such as bureaucracy, corporeality, and lost tribal traditions.

Alhamad holds an MFA in Fine Art from HDK-Valand (2024), a degree in Design from Tishreen University of Fine Arts in Syria (2015), has studied Visual Communication at Östra Grevie Folk High School (2022), and earned a BFA in Graphic Design and Animation from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Aleppo (2014).

He has received several awards, including the Vera and Göran Agnekil Scholarship for Young Artists from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (2025), Ung Svensk Form 2025, PostNord’s award and a commissioned sketch assignment for a postage stamp (2025), as well as the “Art Breakthrough of the Year” award from the culture editorial board of Göteborgs-Posten (2026). He has also been awarded the Onassis AiR Fellowship 2026 in Athens and the AiR Småland Art Scholarship 2026.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the British Museum, Liljevalchs Konsthall, the OnBoards Biennale in Antwerp, Berlin Central Station, the IKEA Museum, Dunkers Kulturhus, and Museum für Fotokopie. His works are represented in both public and private collections worldwide.
