For over three decades, ADAS teater in Gothenburg has devoted itself to a physical theatre practice that continuously explores new perspectives on the living conditions of the animated body. At times, this has meant turning to the very concrete and material. It is about creating spaces for new perspectives and encounters – and about striving for a performing art that is both complex and expansive.

In five different texts, from five different viewpoints, this book seeks to capture some of the many possible perspectives on ADAS teater’s physical theatre practice. It is about highlighting new possible narratives, about creating presence, exploring the various dimensions of the voice, or understanding the human body as its own witness. It is also about using research and interviews as methods for building new archives, and about daring to approach what is most difficult.
