I achieved my BA degree in English Literature, but am now working on fine art practice, as a writer and for a gallery in London. My practice considers the phonetic and spatial potentialities of the English language. I have most recently been combining written and spoken poems with interviews I have conducted with other artists, writers and acquaintances. Exploration of language in my work is often knit up with responses to philosophical thinkers and poets.
My practice takes different forms and materials which can be site specific and conceptual. I am interested in presenting my poetry as a work of art, written out and across surfaces, straddling the boundary between legibility and illegibility. I’m interested in ‘writing the body’, including the process of collage, which allows for gaps in representation and ‘the thing’ to occur. My writing is in dialogue with these ideas, and explores language poetry, commercialisation in the art world, ecopoetics and ‘nonsense’ or broken narratives. My poetry has been published in a selection of small literary magazines, in including Tears in the Fence and Notes.
