Johan Kylén is one of the founders of the theatre group Tajphoon Tivoli and the punk jazz band The Jack Brothers.
He was trained at the Dell’Arte School of Mime and Comedy in the USA, École Philippe Gaulier in Paris, and holds a Master’s degree from Valand Academy of Fine Arts. He is best known for his role as Detective Inspector Jan Bublanski in the Millennium films.
His film credits include Petri’s Tears (1995), Zero Tolerance (1999), How Soon Is Now? (2007), Patrik, Age 1.5 (2008), The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (2009), In Your Veins (2009), The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009), Gentlemen (2014), Gentlemen & Gangsters (2016), and The Giant (2016).
On stage, Johan Kylén has, among many other roles, played the title role in Macbeth, Claudius and the Ghost in Hamlet, the title role in Woyzeck, and performed the monologue Football Is Everything.
He was nominated for a Guldbagge Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017 for his role as Roland in The Giant.
He was also nominated for a Grammis Award for Jazz Album of the Year in 1996 with The Jack Brothers for Coltrane King.
Over the years, he has received several working grants from both state and municipal institutions.
Johan Kylén also gives lectures and leads workshops.
