Bergrummet is situated in the mountain underneath Konstepidemin and accessed through a large doorway in the stone wall that surrounds the park. The room is shaped as a vault and has stone walls and a dirt floor.
The space becomes very moist during rain and extremely cold during winters. Bergrummet was originally used as storage space for the wagons used by Gothenburg’s Epidemical Hospital (1886-1970). Bergrummet is a unique exhibition space that invites the artist to experiment and make site specific work. As we wish to keep Bergrummet in its original condition it is not allowed to make any permanent alternations to the space.
