Fia is an actor, playwright, and director who has been running ADAS Theatre at Konstepidemin in Gothenburg since 1993.
In her work, she highlights, articulates, and gives form to silent life stories, centering women’s and children’s perspectives within a strong artistic framework. With a background as a journalist and radio reporter, the documentary is often present in her creations. Fia is trained in the physical theatre tradition and holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Acting and a Bachelor’s degree in Playwriting from the University of Gothenburg. She combines her own writing with classical, popular, and documentary texts.
Deeply interested in hidden stories, she explores how physical and vocal practice can create space for new meanings and perspectives within well-known material.
Over the years, Fia has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Västra Götaland Region’s Major Work Grant in 2009, with the motivation that she is “one of the most important voices in Gothenburg’s independent cultural scene.” Her productions have been staged at the City Theatres in Stockholm and Gothenburg, performed with the symphony orchestra at the Gothenburg Concert Hall, in New York and at House of Sweden in Washington, and toured across North Africa and Europe. She is also affiliated with the Roy Hart Theatre in France.
Fia works as a teacher in physical and vocal performance, is actively involved in the artistic community at Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, and contributes as a researcher in the project “Expansion and Diversity” at the University of Gothenburg, aiming to shed light on non-institutional performing arts.
