Nasim Aghili (b. 1980) is a Swedish-Iranian artist, director and writer. Nasim works in the field of performing and visual arts and their participatory performances, theatre installations and art in the public space often deal with the experience of existing and living in different forms of exile, usually in the form of healing rituals. She works in the artist duo aghili/karlsson together with the artist, set designer and horticulturalist Björn karlsson, and in the queer feminist art collective Ful.

During their stay at Konstepidemin they will be participating in the research project “Sockerspelen/The Sugar Games” hosted by prof. Cecilia Lagerström and University of Gothenburg. The project offers new perspectives on Gothenburg’s colonial history. Nasim’s focus will be on the Botanical Garden and their collection of the Iranian flower Dionysia.

Friday, May 9th, 4-5 pm, Nasim Aghili will be presenting her research at Botaniska through a tea ritual at Gallery Floras Rike (Botanical Gardens). Hosting tea ritual is a part of her artistic practice together with Björn Karlsson in the duo aghili/karlsson. Tea ritual is a part of the duo’s work around collective healing, civil disobedience and witchcraft.
