María Iturbe is a visual artist based in Mexico City. Her artistic practice is an exploration of human perception, identity and intimacy.
She likes to transform the essence photography through diverse processes and tactile materials like natural pigments, textiles, paper and X-Ray. She is interested in the interaction between light and shadow as fundamental elements of photography, using hand-dyed textiles to recontextualize form, shape and color.
She studied Psychology at the Universidad Iberoamericana and later completed a Diploma in Professional Photography at the School of Visual Media in Mexico City. She has completed several specialization courses at the International Center of Photography, Parsons School of Design and University of the Arts London.
Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Berlin and Lisbon.
