For the last year I have been experimenting with the painting of abstract watercolours as a means of expressing and exploring the nature of deep feeling. These paintings have been able to transpose a measure of deeply felt experience beyond the reach of language. More than this, these works have become companions, in also teaching me about my deepest self and about the nature of being, in particular being-in-relationship.
I invite you to my studio to share this experience. You may either participate, if a place is available, or observe.
Two chairs, two papers, two brushes, two colours. The artist and the visitor sit opposite each other. Other visitors silently observe.
A visitor is welcomed to take their place in a chair, sitting opposite Elizabeth.
After a time of silent presence, a spontaneous watercolour may be created by the artist to express the moment of meeting.
The visitor has a chance to respond with their own act of expression.
This event explores questions of intimacy, presence, spontaneity and artistry in human relations.
There will be chances for up to 8 visitors to take part in this event. The works created during the event will form a composite piece*.
(*This piece will remain the property of Elizabeth, who may show it or images or parts of it in future events or publicity.)
