“S” is a film installation set in a closed, dreamlike scenography. At the centre is an actor whose presence is transformed in a series of recurring scenes.

Through movements and a sculptural approach to sound and space, a fragmented narrative unfolds. The film is structured as a loop, where small variations suggest that something hidden is slowly taking shape.

”Streith’s artworks are rich and many faceted but could be situated within media archaeology. He draws from the mirror of our unsettled past in the form of filmic actions and gestures in dreamy evocations of cultural debris. “Nothing is more instructive than the confusion of timeframes” writes the German film director Alexander Kluge. Confronted with forgotten media like VHS, we come to realize that the worlds a media evokes are not only made of stories, but a tactile combination of qualities, like color and detail, that are at odds with the memory images we once formed. In that sense, and going back to Kluge, Streith’s projects can be compared to be handed a new and confusing map to a cultural territory we assumed we knew well.”

Rasmus Ramö Streith

Rasmus Ramö Streith: (born 1985 in Falköping, Sweden, lives in Malmö) studied at Malmö Art Academy (2013–2018). He has exhibited at Südtiroler Künstlerbund, Bolzano, Italy (2025), Kohta Konsthall in Helsinki (2024), Minor Attractions in London (2024), Malmö Konsthall (2022), among others. His video work The Un dead (2018) is part of the Moderna Museet collection in Stockholm.

Streith’s practice revolves around storytelling and everyday objects. By combining sculpture, film and text, he creates installations where discomfort and recognition coexist.

GIBCA Extended

Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA) is an international contemporary art event taking place every two years in Gothenburg. Each biennial consists of several extensive exhibitions in Gothenburg’s established cultural institutions and in the public space.

GIBCA Extended is both a network and a public program that gathers the contemporary art scenes and venues of Västra Götaland Region. Each edition of GIBCA Extended offers a platform for artists, curators, galleries and art spaces. Their individual programs and exhibitions consolidate and explore new perspectives on the biennal’s theme.
