Maja Kristin Nylander is a photographer and visual artist educated at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland and based in Gothenburg.
Maja is currently working on an ongoing autobiographical artistic project exploring the aesthetics of longing and loss. She seeks the connections between the mythological and the mundane, as well as collective and personal memories. Her images are meticulously staged and arranged, where memories, symbols, and bodies interact in scenarios where outer and inner worlds meet.
Maja also works editorially, as well as on larger documentary projects and portrait exhibitions—most recently in the acclaimed We Are Roma (Vi är romer) and The Silent Heritage (Det tysta arvet).
