Artist statement
Multimedia artist Dragan Vojvodić began his artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo and later graduated in Novi Sad. He expresses himself through a variety of mediums including performances, art actions, installations, in situ work, video, photography, sculpture, and painting. Recently, Vojvodić has been actively exploring the realm of sound, a focus that is evident in his latest works and will also be showcased at Konstepidemin. In his most recent performance, titled ‘The History of Hardcore’ and held at Art Lazareti Dubrovnik, Vojvodić curated a multi-hour listening session featuring music records from various genres along with highly ideological and nationally colored audio recordings. Using LP records, Vojvodić assumed the role of a DJ, creating a cacophony in a Dadaist manner, as a personal stance against propaganda and manipulation.’
Dragan Vojvodić has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Serbia (Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina in Novi Sad; Cultural Center of Belgrade, Goethe-Institut, Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, etc.) and abroad (USA, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, France, Austria, Germany, Japan, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia…). A significant part of his artistic practice has been realized in artistic residency projects in Scandinavian countries, as well as in the region (Rijeka, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Varaždin, Pula, Labin, Podgorica, Skopje, Sarajevo, Ljubljana). He has participated in international artistic projects and biennials (Art Encounters Biennial, Timișoara; October Salon, Belgrade; Missing Stories, Goethe Institut Belgrade, Risk Change, Novi Sad; 700IS Video Art Festival, Iceland, etc.), in international performance festivals in Croatia, Hungary, and Italy, as well as in residency or research projects in Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Japan, the USA, Russia, Estonia, Spain, Portugal, France, etc. He is one of the artists/contributors who participated in the 60th Venice Biennale in Vlatka Horvat’s project ‘By the Means at Hand’ at the Croatian Pavilion.
