Visual Artist

Erdmute Blach

Erdmute Blach is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Rostock, Germany. She previously graduated in mathematics from Humboldt University in Berlin.

Erdmute is primarily a painter. She works abstractly, using many layers of powerful colours to convey a wide range of emotions and ideas.
Many of her paintings are based on ideas about sound. Some are actually created in connection with specific musical works or styles. What interests her deeply about both art and music are rhythm, structure and sound quality.

She is particularly interested in collaborating with musicians, poets and dancers. For example she has undertaken projects with both a German and a Portuguese composer. Erdmute has co-founded the Ensemble HALSOVERHEAD which combines poetry, music, dance and live painting.

She also creates three-dimensional objects, artist books, graphics and installations, using a wide variety of materials.

She has exhibited and participated in art projects in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Portugal and the USA. She has been an artist-in-residence at OBRAS-International Centre for Art and Science in Portugal several times since 2011. She is returning to KONSTEPIDEMIN in 2014 for the second time.is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Rostock, Germany.
