Ateljé Kollegiet was a collaborative project between Kultur i Väst and Konstepidemin in 2018-2019. Kultur i Väst had conducted a survey of needs and experiences among foreign-born artists. A few needs that were pinpointed was the access to collegial networks, increased knowledge about the art sphere and also a need for spaces for art production. As a result of this survey, a collaboration between Kultur i Väst and Konstepidemin was initiated and the project Ateljé Kollegiet was formed.
The purpose of Ateljé Kollegiet was to create a platform for conversation and personal meetings between artists already established in Sweden and those who are looking for artistic contexts in their new home country. Ateljé Kollegiet invited the artists Kareem Sadoon, Faruq Faaiq Omer, Ronak Azeez and Rocio Soto to use Studio 303 at Konstepidemin as their workplace during a three-month period. It was also possible to open up the space as an exhibition venue and invite people to take part in public meetings at Konstepidemin.
