Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir

My work is conceptually based dealing with site-specific research & practice, sculpture, installation, kinetic elements, sound installations, photographic sculptures, text, the fiction of material structures, the subject of maintenance, authorship in history as well as community-based projects. I would argue that talking is a part of my practice. My work deals with remembering that reality is being created, a creative endeavor with authors and designers, it is being shaped, the how and whom of it is very political and we should all be allowed to take part in the shaping.

I am interested in how we can create new tools for thinking about our cities, the environment, the designed structures we create and live with and our social structures. In the strange ways could we learn about things or juxtapose elements. Our memory and past serves to create our future fictions.

I enjoy spending time with a place and idea, shifting between intuitive and analytical processes, controlled and compulsive.
