Eva-Teréz Gölin

As a visual artist, I focus on digital processes. My point of departure is the photographic image and recurring in my practice is a questioning of vision, perception, and the relation to reality usually attributed to the photographic medium. Using the internet as a contemporary archive, I study and portray our collective behaviour, everyday phenomena, and structures shaping our Western society.

At first glance, my works could be perceived as a result of heavy post-processing but are instead the outcome of various digital technologies’ interpretations of photographic imagery used in the creation of the images. In fact, the post-processing I do is often minimal or even non-existent.

Although the digital processes form the base of my practice, materiality and size have always played a most important part in the finalizing of the works. During my residency at Konstepidemin, I will venture into a new field – working with sound and moving images to create a projection – for which I have been awarded a project grant from The Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
