Skulptör

Isaji Yugo

”Usually, sculptures have been reformed the shapes from the materials. While studying sculpture, I experienced how it gradually became a sculpture. And I thought the dynamic change is the essence of sculpture. We usually appreciate the completed sculpture, but I wanted to realize a sculpture that allows us to feel the transformation from the original form.
Firstly I started to use daily goods as materials. Familiar products can show the original state, and we can imagine the process of creation even after finish the works. I have developed techniques for processing them.
The reason why I stick to share the experience of creation with audiences is that a concept can be lost. If I faced something that came from other cultures or generations I don’t know, I wouldn’t understand their concepts. However, I believe I can experience it, and I can be impressed.
The system that helps to learn other cultures, contexts, and concepts is important for us. And I’m using it. On the other hand, I want to be independent as an artist and create artwork that can be existed by itself even if nobody knew me.”
