Composer Maija Hynninen presents her recent work in this artist talk! Inspired by her surroundings, her work draws inspiration from the contemporary soundscapes.

In her work she uses computers quite heavily to analyse and shape sounds, generating new sounding material as well as an instrument to perform her live electronic works. During the presentation she will play fragments of her newest work as well as show a brand new mixed electronics piece as a work in progress.

About Maija Hynninen

Maija is a composer working in the areas of concert music, electronic instrument design and multidisciplinary performances. Timbre as her main interest, her music is fabric of texture and color. She received her PhD from the University of California Berkeley in 2022 and is working mainly as a freelance composer. In her work she uses new media, such as video and lights that are based on the home-made aesthetic, the DIY culture, that she found and researched further during her years at UC Berkeley.
