Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić

”What distinguishes my work from the other Serbian women writers is the fact that at the center of my literary interest, there is always contemporary visual art, and women artists are viewed from cultural and (post) feminist aspects.” (Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić)

The Serbian conceptual artist, writer, and researcher in culture, Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodic, member of the Serbian Literary Society and Association of Writers of Vojvodina, has been exploring and writing in the Nordic countries for years. Her carrier path has been aligned with her passion for Scandinavia, also image studies, contemporary visual art, women art(ist), feminism, and literature. As a writer in residence and researcher in culture, she has been to Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Japan, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Greenland, Estonia, and Latvia. Each of them was special in a way and resulted in several literary genres (novel, art essays, short stories, research essays, photography, etc.)
Ljiljana’s subjects include Scandinavian studies, image studies, gender studies, multicultural studies, female art, intercultural dialogue, intercultural experience, and art books. She participated in artist-in-residence and research projects in Japan, the USA, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Austria, France, Portugal, Latvia, Estonia, Spain, etc.

Ljiljana graduated fr the Department of Literature (Faculty of Philosophy, Novi Sad). She is the author of novels, anthologies, and artist’s books: How to Understand New Art Practice (2021), Skrik (2020), “Post-Nora” Art(ist)? (2020), Nostalgija za Severom (2017), Norveška od Bjernsona do Knausgora (2016), Those Who Eat Raw Meat (2016), Vanishing Home (2016), Instruction as Writings (2016), Oni koji jedu sirovo meso (2013), Norveška priča (2013), Finska – zemlja Kalevale, jezera i sauna (2011) etc.
She has been a participant in artist-in-residency projects in Iceland and Greenland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Estonia, and Latvia, as well as research projects in Tokyo, New York, Paris, and Pristina.
Ljiljana was rewarded “Andra Gavrilović”, “Milutin Uskoković” and “Ulaznica” Award, as well as a scholarship for writers from the Western Balkans (Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs); a grant from the Norwegian agency NORLA; the Novi Sad ECoC 2022, EU Japan Fest Committee (Tokyo), etc.
She publishes texts in magazines and on-line (proza.ba, Danas, Beogradski književni glasnik, Polja, Sveske, Nova misao, Interkulturalnost etc.).
Her work is represented in anthologies: Novosadski književni bedeker, Erklärung für alles, Artist’s Book Yearbook 2018−2019, Crte i reze 7, Pitchwise, Međaj, etc.
As a photographer, she merited a special prize for a project on Iceland (Belgrade, Serbia, 2008).
