Angela Fellow has been invited by Västra Götalandsregionen for a residency at Konstepidemin. During her residency, Fellow will host an open studio and present her work in an interview and conversation led by artist and Konstepidemin member Johan Zetterquist.
Seeking to expand our perception of what we are sensitive to, and exploring our nature in relation to the “other,” Fellow approaches her artistic practice as a series of philosophical-ontological and sensorial exercises in attunement with the “skin of the world.”
Angela Ramírez Fellowes (b. 1985), working under the name Angela Fellow, is an interdisciplinary artist based in Querétaro, Mexico. Raised with a Mexican-Canadian heritage near Mount Hercules, her early explorations laid the foundation for her practice of working with found objects.
Following studies in architecture and urban planning, she moved to Estonia in 2018 to pursue a master’s degree in contemporary art at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her broad artistic practice—spanning everything from sculpture and multimedia installations to performance and jewelry art—has been exhibited internationally. Alongside her artistic work, where she also explores collective co-creation and community-based projects, she works as an architect, urban planner, and educator.
Conceptual artist Johan Zetterquist devises proposals and designs for public space whose execution is one step removed from reality. His ambitious, absurdist proposals may take the form of texts, drawings, photography, models, performances, sound art and large-scale installations and sculptures both within and outside of the gallery.
