Residence Angered is a collaboration between Konstepidemin, Konsthallen Blå Stället and Förvaltningen för kulturutveckling, Västra Götalandsregionen. The initiative was started against the background of an art scene in Gothenburg that in many ways is closed and difficult to get access to. The intention was to create conditions for a less segregated art life and build bridges between different sites for art in the city.
Since 2014, artists have been given time and opportunity to stay in Angered for a couple of months and explore different aspects of the area connected to their own artistic practice. The invited artists have worked in different art fields and created projects in Angered together with residents. The ambition has been to create and strengthen relationships between individual artists, independent cultural workers and persons active in the cultural field. Through art, we want to pose important questions about politics, responsibilities, participation and democracy. Residence Angered have initiated a multitude of conversations, meetings, workshops and lectures.
