LÁTA VAÐA
— Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir (Island), Christin Wahlström Eriksson

LÁTA VAÐA – Låt det vada. Refers to wading through water, snow or other terrain as well as to let oneself flow or to give oneself or something over the flow of things.

Exhibition by Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir and Christin Wahlström Eriksson where they bring together their different practices. Both have in their practice studied public spaces and city development, worked with interventions in the public space and research based conceptual practices. Christin has had an ongoing project regarding Backaplan on Hisingen, where she has changed a parking lot into a flax growing field. Berglind has done large studies of public spaces and news archives related to them, bringing to life a site-specific object, or building, allowing them to tell their own stories.

In this exhibition they started their process by getting to know each others working methods and extensive walking in the city scape from Kvillebäcken on Hisingen to all the central kannals, Rosenlundskanalen, Vallgraven, Stora Hamnkannalen, Fattighuskanalen  and Mölndals kanal. In the end they circled around Vallgraven and Rosenlundskannalen for their public space interventions. In the exhibition Christin brings in her approach of thinking through fabrics and fibers, specifically flax and Berglind plays with reconstructions of historical objects in her installation. Employing among other things photographic sculptures. Their approaches meet in the exhibition in a few collaborative works.

Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir who lives and works in Reykjavík, was chosen for Nordic Match F.I.L 2020: Island and invited to a residence at Konstepidemin for three months this fall. She was matched with Christin Wahlström Eriksson based in Göteborg to collaborate and make an exhibition  together at Galleri Konstepidemin.
