Larysa Andriievska is a Ukrainian translator, editor, researcher, and curator of translation projects. In November, she is undertaking a residency at Konstepidemin through Västra Götalandsregionen. During this writer’s talk, she will sit down in conversation with Swedish writer and Konstepidemin member Marit Kapla.
During her residency, Larysa will work on the Ukrainian translation, editorial processing, and an introductory essay for Zeszyt z wierszami z Auschwitz (Notebook with Poems from Auschwitz) – a handwritten notebook containing poems composed by prisoners at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
The project aims to make this unique historical document accessible to Ukrainian readers and to introduce it into Ukraine’s cultural and academic discourse.
Marit Kapla is a journalist and author based in Gothenburg. In her debut book, Osebol (Teg Publishing, 2019), she interviews 42 people who live in the village in northern Värmland where she grew up, presenting their stories in poetic form. For the book, Kapla received several awards, including the August Prize and Borås Tidning’s Debutant Prize.
Live at Galleri Konstepidemin is a concept for short live presentations held on Wednesday evenings in the gallery. Galleri Konstepidemin is artist-run, and the programme is curated by a group of artists representing a wide range of artistic expressions.
